Simply put if the most fascinating game I could imagine came out and there was a monthly fee to play it I would refuse point blank.

The amount isn't important either it could be £1 a month I would still refuse.

Go down that rout and next you will be renting all software including your operating system.

Fortunately we don't have to pay monthly fees for GW & GW2. If for some reason GW2 changed to p2p, my answer would definately be YES, I would pay. Just as I'm going to pay to play Aion when it's released next Spring.

I've paid to play AoC since a week after it's release in May. Next week my total into that will be $140 for the six months. Is AoC at this time worth that? No! It doesn't have much more content than Prophesies really. For that amount of money I could have gotten nearly all three campaigns as new, and could get all of GW now for less. If I had that amount of content after six months of GW release, including at that time the thriving competitive pvp, there's zero comparison -- not even close!

People say you pay monthly for constant content additions and upgrades, but that's bs concerning this latest experience. I know I'm sounding contradictory, but I have a reason. For no monthly fee ANet, while focused on current game, updates, fixes bugs, adds things here and there, does events, is far more hands-on and does everything much more cleanly, quickly and reliably than what I've experienced these past six months. People can complain all they want about ANet's changes and whatnot over the lifetime of GW, but other experiences prove to me that they are an excellent company. I personally feel like I'd get my monies worth with p2p from ANet. I'm not saying I want to pay monthly, but I surely would if necessary.

That all depends; if we paid for a lot more updates - by which I mean added content than GW1 has received I might consider it. If the content updates are at the same rate as now then I'd most certainly say no.

I'm curious. For those that have said that they definitely would not pay a monthly fee. Do you guys currently pay a fee to play other games? In the past I have, for awhile, paid for WoW, LotRO, Tabula Rasa, and Dungeon Siege Online. I eventually quit my subscription on all of them because I didn't keep playing them for very long. However, I have been playing GW for 3 1/2 years now, and I still play it pretty regularly (and recently introduced my [adult] daughter to the game so am actually playing it more than usual now).

I'm not sure that I'd still be playing if there was a monthly fee, but I will say that I definitely enjoy playing GW more than the other online games that had a fee and I've played and quit.

I would have to say I prefer not to pay the monthly fee. But if I had to pay to play guild wars 2, I would.

No I have never paid a monthly fee to play a game.

I guess if I was paying for a service I would want to be using that service all the time.
So once I paid for a say a month I would feel I had to play every day on that game to get my moneys worth.
But its not my way to play one game exclusively.

Would rather put the money I have into a better internet connection new games and computer upgrades.

Its true I am retired and don't have the ability to work more hours to generate extra cash I guess if I did have that ability I would have a pc a playstation and xbox loads of games and be signed up for ww2 online WOW warhammer etc etc.

Should I hit it big on the lottery Its what I will be doing although I will probably alsdo be looking into internet services on Tahiti and New Zealand where my second and third homes would be.
